ROONEY AND TEAMMATES GO ON LONDON TRIP

In an attempt to improve team bonding, Manchester united star player Wayne Rooney has installed the Christmas spirit in his teammates by taking them on a trip to London. The group was seen having fun at the winter wonderland in London.

Rooney arranged the trip travelled alongside other members of the team Michael Carrick, the club’s third choice goalkeeper Sam Johnson, Jesse Lingard, Chris Smaalling, Phil Jones, and Marcus Rashford to London.

Wayne Rooney boosting confidence in Fans

Wayne Rooney seems to have gained the support and confidence of fans or at least the coach of Manchester United as the Englishman a few months ago was named as the captain of the Premier League club as he succeeded NemanjaVidic. Rooney is also the captain of the English national football team.

Despite having received a number of red cards when performing for England as well as making questionable performances for his country, Rooney was selected by David Moyes as the new captain of England after Steven Gerrard announced his retirement from playing at the international stage.

Rooney started playing and representing England at the age of 17 during a match between England and Holland where he managed to make his first goal for his country and from there on out Rooney kicked off his international career with England which has already seen him making over 95 appearances.

The former coach of the England youth team for the 2002 Under-17 European Championship team Dick Bate revealed details that occurred during this tournament that many people might not know concerning Wayne Rooney and something that the 17 years old English forward did.

On the day that England was eliminated from the tournament and the English squad was gathered together during their last meal before returning to their respective clubs and homeland, Dick Bate stated that Wayne Rooney took the chance to express his devotion towards England as he recited a poem which was titled; ‘’ When Saturday Comes’’.

The contents of the poem has not been revealed by Dick Bate but according to the former coach, he and the squad were surprised by how this 17 year old player displayed his love for England and it was an event that Bate will never forget.

“I think it took most of the group aback. Here was a young boy just expressing his love for England in the best format and most succinct manner he could. I have never seen anyone stand up and do that before. I will never forget it.” Dick Bate said.

WILL ROO STAY?

The future of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is coming under intense speculation after the opening of the January transfer window. The striker has just over one year left on his current contract. It was expected that negotiations would begin a few months ago, but it is so far yet to happen. Chelsea are expecting to come in with a new offer for Rooney, who they were very much interested in during the summer. The West London outfit were prepared to go to as much as £ 40 million to secure the England international, but United were reluctant to sell to one of their direct rivals.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho thinks that this will once again be the case this January or even in the summer. He reckons that Rooney will ultimately be sold by United, but only to a foreign club. There have also been suggestions of a swap deal involving Juan Mata and Rooney. The Spaniard has fallen out of favour with Mourinho, but he still remains as one of the finest players available today. Due to the lack of quality in midfield, United would show tremendous interest in signing matter, who is valued at around the same price as Rooney.

Mourinho, though, has reiterated that Rooney will not be sold to a direct rival.

“Manchester United made it clear in the summer they don’t swap or sell players to their direct rivals. They were clear in the way they approached the Rooney situation. For them it’s pretty clear. They don’t swap. They don’t sell. I think maybe this summer they will try to sell to a non-direct rival. But they were very clear [about Chelsea],” said Mourinho, who is a well-known fan of Rooney.

He appeared to suggest that it was the England striker, who wanted to come to Chelsea.

NEW CONTRACT FOR ROONEY

Having made an impressive start of the season Manchester United is expected to be preparing a new contract for Wayne Rooney. The English striker is being watched by other top clubs who are interested in signing him and a move away from Manchester United was becoming more and more possible ever since David Moyes took charge of the club as their new coach.

Rooney stated his desire to leave the club ever since the rumors involving the Scottish coach being the possible replacement of Sir. Alex Ferguson however he remained with the club and now with 18 months remaining on his contract Manchester United is preparing a new contract that will see Rooney signing a new £52million contract deal and keep him away from offers of other clubs.

Mesut Ozil has made a huge impact upon leaving Real Madrid and joining Arsenal, Rooney went on to talk about the 25 years old midfielder.

“He’s a clever player,” the Manchester Evening News quotes Rooney as saying.

“He doesn’t stick to one position, he moves along the line. He moves in behind positions in midfield, he can score and assist goals. He’s a fantastic player.”

Arsenal has now become a direct challenger to the Premier League title as they are making their way to the top of the League hoping to dethrone the current champions Manchester United.

Jamie Carragher talked about the impressive start of the season that Rooney has been enjoying as he said:

He said: “Rooney is the reason why they’re only five points behind this season because United have been poor.

“It’s not the vintage United we’ve seen of old and there are a lot of players who haven’t performed, but he’s the one who’s dragged Man United up there, virtually single-handedly at times.”

Manchester United is 5 points behind the leaders of the Premier League leaders Arsenal as they are taking everyone by surprise alongside Liverpool who are following them close behind in 2nd place and United will need to keep their top players if they want to remain being the champions of England.

ROONEY SET FOR TALKS

After being heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford, Wayne Rooney was set for talks with new manager David Moyes as he arrived for the first day of training. However, it is learnt that he did not have any talks with Moyes or at least the outcome of the talks has not been revealed yet. It is widely speculated that he may leave Old Trafford before the start of the season with the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona, and PSG interested in his services. Former United assistant first-team coach Mike Phelan was at Old Trafford when Rooney previously handed transfer request.

However, the 27-year-old England international decided to stay at Old Trafford back then after being persuaded by Sir Alex Ferguson. This time around it may not be the case according to Phelan, who expects Rooney to leave the club in the summer. United have been linked with a deal to bring former star Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. He could cost well in excess of £ 70 million, and United may consider selling Rooney in order to raise some funds. Chelsea have been extremely noncommittal when it comes to their opinions on Rooney, which has raised the transfer speculation even more.

Phelan, though, is extremely confused as to why Rooney wants to leave the best club in the world.

“He is still is at the greatest club he could be at, so why would you want to jeopardise that unless you want a fresh challenge and you don’t think that challenge is being met at Manchester United? He might have hit a little bit of a blip in certain performances and then it’s easy to find fault with that, but he isn’t the first player to do that and he won’t be the last,” said former United assistant coach.

ROONEY RETURN IN ONE MONTH

The Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has said that he is looking to return to first-team action within a month. The England striker has been out of the first team action after suffering a gash in the leg during the 3-2 win over Fulham from Manchester United. It was anticipated that he would be missing up to a month of first-team action, but the injury has proven to be more severe. As a result, he has been ruled out for up to 2 months that would see him miss matches against Liverpool and Chelsea along with many crucial Champions League encounters.

The 26-year-old has been criticised for not being played at the start of the new season. As result, he found himself on the substitute bench for the match against Fulham to do the availability of the star striker Robin van Persie. The forward has said that he is definitely not one hundred percent fit at the moment and was right to be dropped by the manager Sir Alex Ferguson for the match against Fulham. However, he does not expect to continue not being fit for long, and expects to be back for the first-team action within a few weeks.

“The injury is going well. It could have been a lot worse than what it was. It is up to the doctor. When he declares me fit I will be ready. It feels good at the minute. The timescale put on it was four weeks. If that is the time they feel I need for the wound to heal properly then that is what I will do. What I don’t want to happen is to come back too early when it is not quite healed and it opens up again first game. That would just set me back again another four weeks,” Rooney said.
